Americas Week: 4/4

Umm... It's been slow...

Free Agency

Our headline here is that DeSean Jackson got knocked out of Philadelphia, and very quickly landed in D.C. with the Redskins. A sign of how quiet the week has been was the fact that DJax release basically dominated my twitter feed for two days. Two days! And it didn't even come as a shock, the Eagles had been shopping him around and had come up empty so they released him. The same scenario has played out several times in the last few weeks, so it's not even a revolutionary tactic. No, the headline grabbing part was his potential "gang ties"...

Despite the weeks of "Eagles think Jackson Expendable" style headlines, it was "gang ties" that got the media coverage. It was gang ties that got Richard Sherman back on his soapbox. It was gang ties that made his release a story, as opposed to an inevitable conclusion.

And just as that's dying it's last death, we bring in Chris Johnson. He's just been released from the Titans, and is on course to survey his options. The top landing spots for him are currently; Jets, Falcons & Cowboys. NFL.com did this story a greater justice than I ever could, so for a full list head over here.

Pete Carroll

Reports have surfaced of a new deal between Carroll and the Seahawks, which equates to roughly $23 million over 3 years. No surprises there, and it was bound to happen at some point.

And that's about it for big news... We really are in that down-time before the draft when nothing happens.
