New column, new philosophies, same old game.
Without any real ado about it, let's dive straight into the week.
NFL Combine
I've done some documentation of my own, but this really has been what's dominating chatter this week. During and since the combine it has been at the top of the program on football blogs, columns and TV shows. At this point in the off-season there really isn't a lot going on with the exception of the overextended draft speculation.
I loved watching the Combine over the weekend and I still think it's a valuable tool to assess players. Head over to the NFL Combine official site to view a whole swathe of articles and numbers covering the week.
Salary Cap Increase
Jumping up to $133 million for 2014, the cap gives teams more space than they had planned for.I'll let NFL.com field the full write-up.
Busy Before Free Agency
The Philadelphia Eagles have been top of the list this week, resigning Jason Peters, Riley Cooper and Jason Kelce. That doesn't mean they've been the only team stacking the blocks for next season, so here's a quick rundown of the weeks deals;
Washington Redskins resign Chris Baker (DL) to a 3-year, $12 million deal.
San Francisco 49ers extend contract of Daniel Kilgore (C).
Chicago Bears resign Roberto Garza (C) to a 1-year, $1.5 million deal.
The Draft
As a consequence of the Combine, the next round of Mock Drafts is in and these are my pick of the bunch;Daniel Jeremiah
An interesting take on the quarterback struggle at the top of the draft board.
Mel Kiper (Big Board)
Not a full run through of the draft, but some excellent analysis of the best prospects.
